I stumbled across one of these interesting doodles on Tumblr a few days ago and got intrigued so I read up more about it. #The50 Things Every Creative Should Know is the brainchild of Jamie Wieck, and it is a fully-tweetable primer for graduating creatives, hence the hashtag. Its’s a pretty nifty idea, using timeless appeal of list-making (which you know I am eternally a sucker for) while harnessing the power of social media. It’s brief, it’s concise, and it’s pretty much genius.
What I love about it is how it’s pretty much applicable to all creative fields, and does not play up to a particular niche unlike some other lists I’ve read that are similar to these. For example, number 17 and 40 are things that I’ve learned are necessary even when I was still an architecture student. There are some really funny ones too, such as number 25, which is all too true. It would have been great if I had come across this a bit earlier, because most of the information is really handy. And I like the drawings! It’s something that I’d like to get to do for Snickerdoodles in the future.
