I know I’ve said that that I’m going to start posting again soon, but seeing that I wrote my last entry almost a month ago, I guess I need to come out and say it: it’s not going to happen.

Not in a couple of months anyway. After some thinking, I’ve decided to put the blog on hold on for a little while. The fact is, even if my recent state of unemployment has given me the free time that I’ve been so desperately wanting since forever, I have to be realistic and focus on more urgent things at hand – mainly my upcoming board exams in June. As much as I want to make time for blogging, it takes up chunk of time that I can afford to give. I have long since accepted that I am not the best memorizer and that I have the attention span of a 2-year old, so I need to work extra hard to be able to go through all the stuff I have to read, and there is a looooot! Just looking at my pile of reading materials makes me queasy every time.

I’ve also decided to take a break from accepting commissioned design work, and my work calendar has been pretty much empty (not to mention my wallet gahh). Sometimes I get a bit scared that this decision has been setting me back, especially since I’ve been getting more than a few inquiries, but I know this is the right choice.

I’ve been thinking a lot of how to streamline the blog and take it to the next level, and I’ve come up with some pretty exciting plans so far that I can’t wait to get started on once I (hopefully) get past the board exam hurdle. I don’t want to elaborate, but I definitely want to focus on creating more original, quality content to really establish this as a design blog. I know blogging has been all the rage in the Philippines for quite a while now, but it’s mostly been centered on fashion bloggers.  I think it’s about time we built a design blog community as well, and this is a goal hoping to venture into as well. Big dreams yet again, but have I ever been content with otherwise?

So there, I’ll see you guys in June! Hermit mode is officially on.

P.S. But if you’re still interested in getting trivial updates about what I’ll be up to until then, feel free to follow me on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram!

For the Wanderrgirls

posters

I almost forgot to post about this recent collab I did with Arriane for the Wanderrgirl Women’s Week Party! I designed a few posters for her using some of her favorite quotes (and one of her own). It was a pretty fun exercise for me to flex my font muscles, and I also got to try my hand on creating some handwritten type (which I need a whole lot more work on!)

The party itself was one big blur of fun, empowerment, and newfound friends, and I’m so glad to be part of this wonderful community of inspiring people. As always, I got lazy to use my camera so no photos to show for it boo hoo, but here are some nice blog entries about it from Arriane herself and my awesome blogging partner, Lorra.

P.S. I’m still in a semi-blogging funk because I’m struggling to tie up all loose ends workwise before March ends. But I hope to be back to regular programming very soon!

I’m working on a few branding projects as of late, and I really admire the way Braizen creates and presents their work. Contrary to the popular belief of many, designing a logo and the brand around it takes a lot of work, and the brand boards they show on their blog really shows the effort they put into designing. Aside from the usual logo, font and color scheme use, they provide extensive options of alternate logos for different uses, as well as patterns and extra graphics that you can use in developing your website, marketing materials and such. This is the standard that I want to follow when it comes to my own projects, and it has gotten me quite inspired to put more thought into the work I put out, and find a way to better present them both in my blog and portfolio.

You can view more amazing branding and design from Braizen here.
